A Royal Wedding is always a great public celebration, and thousands of people packed streets up and down the country to toast the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Many people even made long journeys to join the thronging crowds in the narrow streets of Windsor, 30 miles west of London, while countless more celebrated at street parties or with get-togethers in their own homes in front of the TV!
Windsor was brought to a standstill by the event, and air traffic controllers for nearby Heathrow Airport, one of the world’s busiest, even closed the airspace over the town 15 minutes before the ceremony to avoid marring proceedings with the roar of low-flying aircraft.
The Prince and his Bride had already issued 2,640 invitations to members of the public, Palace staff and charity workers, granting them special access to the big day.
