From the outside looking in, it seems Jessica Simpson has it all. She’s got legions of fans who adore her, is a devoted mum to two gorgeous kids, has a hubby who worships the ground she walks on, and she even heads up a billion-dollar fashion empire. Yep, girl is pretty much killing it at life!

But appearances are often deceiving. Because while the star continues to present a bubbly face in public, behind the scenes we’re told she’s seriously down in the dumps as her weight spirals and her performing career slumps.

Indeed, Jess, 37, was rocking a fuller figure on the beach in the Bahamas on April 27 during a family vacay. And while she’s embraced her curves in the past – and has been posting a string of sexy selfies! – onlookers say the singer-turned-fashion designer appeared pretty down during her beach break.

“That pretty much sums up Jess’s situation right now,” an insider confirms to NW. “She’s put on about 50 pounds [23kg], which has been hard for her. One day she’ll love her body, the next she can’t stand to look in the mirror. She feels so alone and like no-one understands what she’s going through.”
