But when Heidi Klum turned in her Angel’s wings the German-born star was determined that her career would still soar, turning her considerable talents to TV and business instead.

Now at 44, she has an impressive CV that includes America’s Got Talent, Germany’s Next Top Model and Project Runway plus her own swimwear line and a budget fashion range for retailer Lidl launching at New York Fashion Week next month. Looking fabulous and with a glowing complexion that shaves years off her, Heidi is also a mum of four and still finds time for her boyfriend of three years, New York art dealer Vito Schnabel, 31. What about hobbies? “I have four kids – I don’t have any. I have no time,” she laughs.

Her infectious joie de vivre is much in evidence in Project Runway, which has just started a 16th series in the US. Heidi is back in her Emmy winning role as host and one of three judges who cast a critical eye over budding designers’ creations.
