Brittle nails can be considered unhealthy making them look awful. Brittleness in nails can be the effect of many factors like aging, excessive usage of nail enamel or nail polish remover. Other conditions that can lead to brittleness in nails are fungal infections, anaemia, psoriasis, eczema, and lichen planus. For all those who want to have beautiful nails, it is important that they are given proper care on timely basis. Mentioned below are few home remedies which can strengthen the nails and keep them beautiful.

Home remedies for strengthening brittle nails

Lemon Juice and Olive oil

While lemon juice helps in protecting damaged and peeling nails, olive oil penetrates the nail cuticles repairing and strengthen the brittle nails.

Mix 3 tablespoons of olive oil with 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and heat the mixture until slightly warm. Massage the mixture on each nail while soaking the fingertips in the mixture for 20 minutes. Leave the mixture on the nails overnight. If done on a routine basis, one can notice substantial difference within a month.

Sea Salt

Using sea salt is one of the easiest and readily available home remedies that can be used by anyone to make their nails strong and healthy. The minerals present in sea salt have healing and rejuvenating properties which make the nails strong and shiny.
