- JAYASHREE KINI MENDES

Organic Glow

You are one of the largest lighting and auto components manufacturing company, and have so many tie-ups to your credit. How do you make them successful?

This year, we celebrate our 75th anniversary. Trust, transparency and mutual benefit has helped our partnerships become even stronger. Our partnership with Stanley Electric Co., Japan, is over three decades old.

Not only in lighting, we are also market leaders in gear shifters which is a decade old relationship with Mannoh, Japan. The new tie-ups are mostly with companies from Germany, Israel, Spain and Japan.

When engineers from both the organisations have an understanding, then things progress well. We have adopted several manufacturing best practices such as TPM, Kaizen, Poka Yoke, etc. Our work wear is in alignment with our oldest technological partner, Stanley.

With these partnerships, we are in a position to bring the latest and advanced technologies to India. An example of this is telematics. Similarly, when it comes to LEDs in lighting, we have been one of the pioneers. Again, when it comes to on-board antennas which used to be imported, will now be manufactured locally by us. Oxygen sensors which are essential for the BSVI era are being developed locally as well.

Brief us on some of the criteria you consider before tying up with companies globally.
