More companies are jumping into the fray to manufacture protection equipment. They are genuinely helping

Times have become stranger. People have taken on new roles that were unplanned for. The pandemic has required more people to put their hands to the plow so that it can be curtailed faster. Around the world, companies have forgone their core manufacturing products and turned to manufacturing equipment to safeguard people against the virus. The list is endless.
Some of the things that are much needed are masks, personal protective equipment (PPE), sanitisers, face shields, ventilators, medical equipment, medicines, among other things. Sanjay Gupta, executive VP, corporate strategy, Deepak Fertilisers & Petrochemicals Corporation (DFPCL), says, “We are one of the largest producers of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA), which is the most preferred alcohol for sanitisers. DFPCL introduced a range of IPA based hand sanitisers, and surface disinfectants and wipes to fight the pandemic. We created a small facility for manufacturing hand sanitisers at Taloja. This is a new facility within an existing complex, which has been approved by the FDA and is capable of being scaled up as necessary. We also tied up with several quality contract manufacturers to produce smaller consumer packs.”
Honeywell too has begun production of up to two million disposable face masks monthly at its Fulgaon manufacturing facility in Pune. The masks will be supplied to frontline healthcare workers, emergency responders and government organisations as part of the efforts to combat Covid-19 in India. The masks are designed in alignment with India Bureau of Indian Standards and U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) standards.
