REENGINEERING & REDESIGNING BUILDING PRODUCTS AND FABRICATION FOR THE FUTURE
RECENT SURVEYS WITH ARCHITECTS INDICATE that highly collaborative relationships between key stakeholders and being BIM compliant are very critical to a project’s success. Since the manufactured products provided by companies in the building products industry play a significant role, a higher degree of collaboration is required to plan and evaluate that experience prior to construction.
In the backdrop of this, Manufacturing Today in association with Autodesk had organised an exclusive virtual panel discussion titled, ‘Reengineering & Redesigning Building Products & Fabrications for the Future’ on 8th Sept, 2021.
Among the experts in the panel were Ravishankar N, Director Engineering, OTIS; Santosh Jagtap, Director Large Strategic Projects, Johnson Controls; Manoj Arora, Head Projects, Jindal Steel; Ganesh Jirkuntwar, Head Manufacturing Dalmia Cement (Bharat); Nagaraj Loganathan, VP Manufacturing, Bonfiglioli; K V Veerapandian, Head Technical (D&M) India & SAARC, Autodesk. The panel discussion was moderated by Sudeep Kolte, VP, S&M, Saint Gobain India, Gyproc.
The panel discussion was preceded by a presentation by Keerti Malavooru who is a Sr. Technical Sales Specialist at Autodesk with the Design & Manufacturing Solution group.
“In the last couple of years, we have seen a lot of industries, owners as well as governments, making adoption of BIM a mandate,” said Malavooru, referring to the Building Information Model (BIM); a process that comprises of creating an intelligent 3D design model, creating its digital representation and then extracting and sharing it across networks for decision making.

A look back and the road ahead
The year 2025 will be remembered as a period of recalibration for India's manufacturing sector. Far from a mere continuation of post-pandemic recovery, it was a year defined by the complex interplay of global economic headwinds, rapid technological adoption and a decisive domestic push towards self-reliance and sustainability. For an industry that forms the bedrock of the nation's economic ambition, 2025 was less about incremental growth and more about structural transformation, setting the stage for a more competitive and demanding 2026.
