A Zero-Emissions Wine Grape Harvest For Italian Vineyard

Italian wine producer Fontanafredda and engine manufacturer FPT Industrial are partnering to produce one of the first zero-carbon-footprint wine grape harvests in the world.

A new three-year partnership between FPT Industrial, the global power-train brand of CNH Industrial and the world’s largest producer of low environmental impact engines, and Fontanafredda, an Italian wine producer in the Langhe region known for its Barolo wines, will seek to produce the world’s first zero-emissions harvest of a Barolo wine.
Fontanafredda currently has 120ha of certified organic vineyards, and cultivation and harvesting of the wine grape crop will take place using two New Holland TK Methane Power crawler vineyard tractors. These have biomethane-fuelled FPT Industrial F28 Natural Gas engines, which are designed to be compact, productive, and environmentally friendly.
