ROADMAP FOR REBUILDING POST-COVID INDIA
Businessworld
|August 30, 2021
The infrastructure and construction sector will play an important role in rebuilding India in the post-pandemic phase, says Anoop Kumar Mittal, MD, AIDA Management, & former NBCC (India) CMD

SINCE THE economic depression of 2008, the construction sector in India has faced many hiccups with the pandemic further accentuating the problems. With the reverse migration of laborers, urban areas have been left with fewer construction workers. “The infrastructure and construction sector will play an important role in rebuilding India in the post-pandemic phase,” believes Anoop Kumar Mittal, MD, AIDA Management. An engineer by profession and former NBCC India CMD, Mittal has given his 35 years in providing quality civil engineering services to the nation.
In a conversation with BW Businessworld, Mittal shared his vision for the construction sector of the country and his views on the importance of skill development and the need for the private sector to contribute in this arena.
A Wake-up Call
Work from home and the advancement of technology have provided the industry with new ways of looking at things. Mittal stated, “The need for the infrastructure sector is more than ever. To ensure that the benefits reach every individual, infrastructure serves as the linking chain. We first need the basic infrastructure. This includes water, electricity, and road.”
