ANSCB's Digital Initiatives Aim At FI

The operational area of Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank covers the entire union territory through its 41 branches located right from Diglipur at extreme north to Campbell Bay in the extreme south of the union territory. Of these branches, 37 are in the rural area and 4 in the urban area.

FINANCIAL INCLUSION

The bank, which will be completing 53 years of service on 31 March 2019, is providing banking services to more than 300,000 customers with its network of branches and ATMs. K. Murugan, MD of the bank, says the bank’s presence in the unbanked tribal belt of Chowra Island indicates the relative importance of the banking system in the remotest area of the union territory where the total number of inhabitants is less than 2000. “We are truly filling the requirements of rural finance and financial inclusion. We have been holding financial literacy camps in more than 298 locations in the last few years,” he adds.
