It’s a paradox of the vast array of communication tools of our modern age that still some of the most interesting voices are those least heard. We try and address that this issue with a selection of pieces from sailors who have a deserving story to tell. But it is only a selection, because our sport is both broad in its practitioners and list of unsung champions so long. We may come from different backgrounds, motivations and ideals, but all offer a unique and valid take on our sport. And in a sport so personal, opinions will be strongly held, not a bad thing, as long as it doesn’t impinge on our right to enjoy windsurfing at whatever level or form we may choose. So we serve this month a veritable smorgasbord of windsurfing tastes from the extremes of the Red Bull Storm Chase to the serenity of the UK based ‘Seavets’ who cater for the old in age but young at heart amongst our clan.
