Lunar Acquires Wellhouse Leisure

Lunar has taken over van converter Wellhouse Leisure in a move that will double production capacity for Wellhouse’s popular Terrier campervan.

The acquisition also sees the formation of a new division within Lunar, Lunar Campers, whose sales director will be David Elliott.

David founded Wellhouse Leisure in 2003, and it has become one of the UK’s most respected van converters, winning Gold Awards in PM’s Owner Satisfaction Awards in 2016 and 2017.

Demand for the Terrier has outgrown Wellhouse’s facilities at Skelmanthorpe, near Huddersfield, so moving production to Lunar’s factory in Preston – which is in the process of expansion itself – will almost double production capacity to at least 400 a year.

David said: “Lunar has lots of experience of building smaller campers, and Wellhouse Leisure and Lunar Caravans have great synergy. is is a valuable opportunity to develop Lunar Campers as the leading campervan producer not just in the UK, but in all of Europe.”

Lunar managing director Brian Mellor said: “Adding campervans to our range is an exciting next step for Lunar, and we really recognise the hard work Wellhouse Leisure has put into developing its Terrier.”
