2400 miles across Europe on a 125cc motorcycle. Perhaps not everyone’s idea of fun, but Andrew Parry loved it.
-
Andrew Parry fromKidderminster hasjust come homefrom a 2400-miletour to Slovenia and back – nothing very unusual about that, except that his chosen bike for the trip was a 125cc Sinnis Terrain.
One of an increasing number of riders using smaller bikes for big trips, Andrew originally intended to use an 80cc Yamaha Townmate scooter, and planned to keep daily distances low, staying in youth hostels, Formule 1 hotels and camping, to keep down the cost of his three-week trip. “The trouble was,” says Andrew, “this meant taking a tent, sleeping bag, camping mat and stove. I also intended to do some walking, which meant carrying walking boots, a lightweight rucksack and waterproofs.”
The Townmate plan was ditched, and instead Andrew found a secondhand Sinnis Terrain instead. The Terrain – tested inMSL 697 – is a miniature adventure bike, powered by a 125cc four-stroke single and coming with full luggage, crashbars, screen and authentic adventure bike styling. And at £2499 on the road, a new one is cheaper than a couple of BMWGS option packs.

Some Like it Hot All about heated clothing
Being cold on a motorcycle isn't just unpleasant, it's potentially dangerous! The human body is designed to maintain a stable internal temperature of around 37°c. When it drops by just a couple of degrees, hypothermia starts to kick in, causing symptoms including shivering, mild confusion, lack of coordination/fumbling hands and drowsiness. None of which help you control a bike. And that's only mild hypothermia!

As another chunk of monthly mileage takes my NT1100 over the 10,000-mile mark, I assess my current and future relationship with it. Overall, the Honda gets a good score, with a similar vote coming from a fellow owner.
