Mercedes-Benz finally showcases its electric counterpart to the S-Class and Tesla rival in the US of A. Meet the all-new EQS. Pratik Rakshit tells you all about it

The EQS is not the first all-electric Mercedes, but is in fact the one that matters. Because while the EQC and EQA siblings sit on scalable platforms shared with their conventional counterparts, the EQS introduces the Stuttgart-based carmakers new ‘Electric Vehicle Architecture’ that will also do duty on the upcoming EQ products such as the EQE, EQS SUV, and EQE SUV. The electric sibling of the S-Class features a tech-laden cabin, two choices of potent electric motors, and a futuristic centerpiece which stretches across the dashboard from A-pillar to A-pillar. In fact, the good folks at Mercedes believe the EQS will redefine the all-electric luxury vehicle segment as it takes on Tesla and other automakers that are already vying for a share of the luxury electric pie. Naturally, the flagship electric car has lots to prove in the coming months, but before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s take a detailed look at why the EQS is an innovative product from the marque.
