Could an all-electric Mini Cooper be more fun than any other Mini ever created? Could it possibly be the best yet? We whizz around town to see if the go-kart-like Mini is still a hoot to drive in its new electric guise

FIRST DRIVE
This was bound to happen wasn’t it? An icon like the Mini Cooper going all-electric. It’s 2022 after all and we’re just a few years shy of most mainstream car manufacturers replacing their entire portfolio of products with all-electric ones. In the past couple of years, I’ve lost count of the number of EVs I’ve driven and if that isn’t convincing enough take a second look at the cover of this issue and checkout not one or two but five new electric cars that adorn it. The BMW Group is stealing the headlines this month with the new Mini Electric included among three new EVs from the brand that we’ve driven this month. But think about it for a second, most manufacturers who have launched an EV have opted to bring out a fresh look to showcase their design philosophy for the electric future but what about the enthusiast yearning and aspiring for a classic like the Mini, what about the ones among us that absolutely adore Mr Bean’s favourite car? For them, Mini has retained their heritage and legacy, their unmistakable design and given us, the all-new Mini Electric.
