Inspired By Whimsy And Nostalgia, Slink & Bardot Is Set To Make Waves With Its Cuisine And Its Decor

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. No, this isn’t about bridal couture, but about the attire of a home away from home. Tucked away in an inconspicuous little lane in Worli village, not far from the sea that harbours the key ingredients of its cuisine, is a secret dining space that’s creating ripples. Thadani House, the family-owned cottage in which it is located, has had various avatars – but this most recent one, a French restaurant and lounge launched by Canadian restaurateur Nick Harrison and French chef Alexis Gielbaum, is all set to outlive its predecessors with its soulful ambience and warm vibe.
Slink & Bardot evokes curiosity, just like the people behind the brand wanted. “We have left the name as a mystery, left it to the imagination of every guest who walks into the restaurant to come and discover it for themselves,” they respond when asked about the space that has morphed from a grungy venue for niche electronic music gigs to a seductive spot with flattering lighting that is eminently suitable for first dates and intimate dinners.
A tasteful selection of colours – turquoise on the outside and fern green within to match the furniture – lends elegance to the two rooms designated for dining. Sparsely decorated with low-hanging lanterns and a sprinkling of art, the focus here is definitely on the food. By contrast, the lounge is livelier, with potted plants, velvet couches and botanical wallpaper simulating a tropical garden.
