LIMITED EDITION SINK

Announcing its collaboration with contemporary artist Daniel Arsham, Kohler has unveiled a one-of-its-kind limited edition 3D-printed sink titled Rock.01 that will debut at Design Miami/2021. Like much of Arsham’s work, Rock.01 is an homage to time. Comprised of 3D-printed vitreous china and hand-poured brass, the sink’s vessel blends modern-day technology with Kohler’s nearly 148 years of manufacturing legacy into functional high art. The effects of time are reflected in the patina of the brass ‘rock’ and achieved through a forced coercion process. Bringing together creative innovation and expert craftsmanship, the sink will be available for purchase in December in a limited edition of 99 pieces.

SUSTAINABLE HANDMADE LAMPS

Apioneer in sustainable artisanal lights, Oorjaa has launched a new collection of handmade lamps made with banana fibre that boast aesthetic shapes and arresting designs. From contemporary to traditional to bohemian, the collection is an ensemble of timeless, eclectic and minimalist designs, comprising table lamps, ceiling lamps and pendant lights. From converting the banana fibres into pulp to designing the folds and shapes, each piece has gone through a process that is high on craft and sustainability. Strong and translucent, the paper made from the trunks of banana plants was cooked, washed and beaten, and then hand lifted on a mold, before being pressed and dried.

#BEATTHEFIRE - WHAT YOU SPECIFY CAN DECIDE WHO SURVIVES

In moments of fire, there is no second chance. The materials you choose today determine whether a building protects lives tomorrow - or puts them at risk. In an age where speed of construction and visual appeal often overshadow safety, one critical truth must remain nonnegotiable: fire safety begins at the specification stage.
