- Daphne Ng

Cassey Gan

What do you consider the biggest turning point in your life?

When I decided to study fashion after an Engineering degree because that has determined my eventual career path.

What does it mean to be bold or daring in the 21st century?

Being true to yourself and having a voice. I think it takes a lot of courage to be individualistic and not be afraid of not fitting in.

Have you had critics, and if so how do you deal with them?

I learn that you really can’t please everyone. I take on constructive criticism, and not take critics personally. As long as I think the critics can help move the brand forward, I will take it with an open heart.

Tell me about the most unexpected place in which you’ve found inspiration.

On a plane when I was reading a book recently, I came across a phrase that said something along the lines of “everything is a mismatch but they make sense”. This has helped spark a concept for a collection.

What would you be doing if Cassey Gan was never launched?

Perhaps I would be an interior designer.

Who would you love to collaborate with, alive or dead?

HAY, the Danish design house.
