There is a determination to follow the five precepts, yet why is there no awareness? A major obstacle behind this is the ‘pride of doing’. Pride means ‘where one does not do it’, thinking that ‘one does it oneself’. Then one shows it to others that ‘I did this.’ At that time, interest arises within, that pride! The remedy for this is to first know that ‘this is wrong’, remain aware of ‘who I am’ and come to know who is really doing it, and as one understands the precepts of order in detail, awareness against pride will increase and pride will melt away. Along with this, if the tendencies go there from previous studies, it is also very necessary to immediately uproot them and use the weapon of Pratikraman. Let us move forward towards perfection through the effort of knowledge and get our work done, this is our heartfelt request!
