Here’s wishing all our readers a very happy new year! We now bring you Creature Companion’s first 2017 edition. Pets shower us with warmth and friendship and never expect much in return. Th is is why we owe our pets a world of love and care. Th is month, we pay tribute to animal shelters and rescue groups, which have done wonders for domestic animals in the last few decades. They have reduced the number of animals surrendered, and rescued them from difficult situations. The
outcomes have been great but still there is a long way to go.

There’s a famous saying by Karen Davison, a well-known canine psychologist that “saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever”. Shelter homes work in this direction and create a safe and loving environment for lonely and neglected pets. But the duty of the shelter home does not end there. They also educate people about how to take care of domestic animals and have been encouraging more and more people to adopt rescued animals.

It has been encouraging to know that many canines from the streets are being adopted. Th is edition brings a lovely story from Bangalore of a soft ware engineer who decided to adopt 735 dogs.
