"It’s the festive season so Jon Edney gets into the spirit of Christmas by bringing the Polar Express to a Cambridgeshire village. Rodney Oldfield constructs another Bob Middleton stationary steam engine – in this case a double sided beam engine. Luker continues his series on setting up your own foundry with some tips about using sand moulds. John Arrowsmith pays a visit to the Hereford Waterworks Museum where this year’s Stirling Engine Society rally was held. Mike Tilby continues his series on steam turbines by looking at the design and manufacture of turbine blades. Doug Hewson describes the reverser and the lubricator for his improved version of LBSC’s 5 inch gauge GWR pannier tank locomotive. Ron Fitzgerald tells the story of the development of the stationary steam engine, beginning in the pre-steam age with the very first mine pumping engines. Chris Gunn paints the belly tank of his 6 inch Garrett 4CD tractor and fits the ashpan. Terence Holland fits injectors to both of his 5 inch gauge Barclay well tanks, Douglas, Airservice Constructional Corps No. 1 and also to the War Department 0-6-0s. The editor looks back at the past year and recalls some of its most memorable moments."
