Teaching the younger generation is something that should be on all our minds and in this issue we feature one club where there’s a healthy interest in the future of model making. Hopefully it will inspire others to consider taking youngsters under their wing and teach them some basic engineering skills. Also on a learning curve, Peter King guides CNC beginners through the uncertainty of allowing the machinery to cut the metal for you! Robert Walker begins a new series on the construction of a single cylinder steam engine suitable for a steam launch. Drawings and methods are provided. Chris Gunn fits the reversing lever and brake gear to his recently completed tender on the 6 inch scale Garrett 4CD and Robert Hobbs adds additional detail to the Hielan Lassie. On our cover we have an award winning, scratch built Maserati 250F. Philip Cowley is well known to those who have attended recent M. E. Exhibitions and he describes the methods used to achieve such finely detailed cars in 1:24 scale.
