It the peak of summer in the Northern hemisphere, the weather is gorgeous
and kids and adults are outside taking part in various sports activities. This is
also the month for the biggest, grandest sports event in the whole world – The
Olympics. Already hundreds of athletes from around the world are making
their way to Brazil for the Rio Summer Olympics. This year’s event takes place
between August 5th and ends on August 21st and will feature 206 teams
competing for medals in 28 sports.
For a lot of athletes the Olympics is the pinnacle of their career. It gives them
a chance to prove that they are the best in the world. This is what they have
worked for day after day – showing the importance of putting effort in the
right activities. For a lot of athletes it is their breakout moment, look out for
these people during the Olympics.
In this month’s issue, we trace the history of the Olympics from Ancient
Greece to the start of the modern Olympics all the way to Rio, Brazil. We are
take a look at some breakout athletes and world record holders that you might
want to keep an eye out for during the Olympics. Along the way we take a
short trip to London, England the location of the last Olympics and sample
some yummy food.
Sports are important for a strong and healthy body. This is also mentioned in
Hadith and the Quran. So go out and exercise. We look forward to seeing some
of you in an Olympics in the future.
