Anti-terrorist 'ring of steel' to be thrown around the city

AN anti-terrorist ring of steel may be thrown around Plymouth city centre to stop vehicles being driven into pedestrians.

Already, temporary fencing has been left standing in Old Town Street following its £18m regeneration, and now Plymouth City Council is looking at whether to install bollards or other measures which could be permanent.

In April, the council announced stringent restrictions to vehicles entering the newly upgraded Old Town Street and New George Street. The streets became a pedestrian area and only certain vehicles are allowed in, and only at certain times.
