COURT REMANDS 11 ACCUSED IN ALLEGED AQIS TRAINING MODULE CASE

Delhi's Patiala House Court on Thursday remanded 11 accused arrested in AI Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) module case in judicial custody after police interrogation. The people have been accused of being members of a training module allegedly headed by Dr Ishtiyaque Ahmed of Ranchi, Jharkhand.

Link Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Pawan Kumar remanded 11 accused, including Dr Ishtiyaque, in judicial custody till September 26. The accused were produced before the court after expiry of the police remand.
Accused have been identified as Anamul Ansari, Shanaz Ansari, Altaf Ansari, Hasan Ansari, Arshad Khan, Umar Farooq, Ishtiaque Ahmed, Mohd Rizwan, Motiur Rehaman, Rehmatullahi and Faizan Ahmed were arrested in August.
Delhi police sought their judicial custody in order to prevent the accused from committing further offences, to prevent accused persons from destroying or tampering with evidence, and to prevent accused persons from making threats or inducements to any person related to the case.
