Armed cops in dramatic standoff at Paisley flat

A local resident has told how his living room “lit up blue” after armed police stormed a Paisley flat amidst a ‘disturbance’.

Emergency services were called to a property in George Street around 7.45pm on Tuesday, July 8, after the alarm was raised.

Police say that due to the nature of the incident, armed officers were called in for support.

A George Street resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the Express how he was first alerted to the “disturbance” when his living room “lit up blue” and he could hear shouting from outside.

He explained: “We were just sitting watching the tele when all we could see was the living room light up blue from the amount of police car lights outside.

“There was a hell of amount of cars rushing down here. I've never seen so many police cars, there must have been about 15 to 20.

“They blocked off the street and next thing we heard was all the shouting and commotion.
