Yet another victim of CO2 misinformation

PETER Auty (Mail Box, June 21) claims that atmospheric CO2 levels 2,000 years ago were barely lower than they are now. This is entirely untrue.

In the past 60 years, CO2 levels have risen to well in excess of anything the Earth has known throughout human evolution, let alone recorded history.

The last time CO2 levels came close to our present situation dates back not 2,000 but three million years, to an ice-free world with sea levels several metres higher than they are today.
