ANNOUNCED 20 MINUTES BEFORE KICK-OFF
(SmartFrame/Pro Sports Images)
Hull City's game against Watford was postponed just under 20 minutes before kickoff due to concerns over player safety at the MKM Stadium yesterday.
The playing surface was deemed playable by referee Anthony Backhouse amid freezing temperatures overnight in East Yorkshire, but the surrounding areas of the pitch were not.
Ground staff had been using the pitch lamps and other methods in a bid to thaw out the areas of concern, but after various inspections, the game was called off with an official announcement coming on social media at 2.42pm, before the crowd assembled inside the ground were then informed.
