The September issue of World Mission explores the theme “Care for Creation” as the Encyclical Laudato Si’ celebrates its 10th anniversary of publication. This year also marks the 800th anniversary of the composition of The Canticle of Brother Sun, also known as Canticle of Creatures, by St. Francis of Assisi. In this poem, the saint refers to the sun as ‘brother’ and the moon as ‘sister.’ In a bold move, the bishops of Asia, Africa, and Latin America have called for climate justice and ecological conversion ahead of the UN climate change conference, COP30, which is set to take place in November in Brazil.
