Climate change is undeniably well underway. Its effects are felt across the globe and it continues claiming victims, particularly the poorest who have no means to shield themselves from the attacks of nature. Despite the many international efforts to avoid ecological catastrophes, resulting from our abuse of Mother Earth, they are now a reality. By making profit the ruler, humanity is walking blindly into a great tragedy. Some still deny it but smog kills, the heat waves kill, the pollution of natural resources kills, and deforestation kills! In the face of all these, a new awareness is urgently needed – the time to act is now because tomorrow might be too late.
Governments and businesses have been remiss in acting at the pace and scale needed. The Conference of Paris at the end of 2016 seems to be the last hope to reverse a seemingly unavoidable climate tragedy. Yet this should not excuse every individual from taking urgent action.
We are all responsible for climate change. We all have to be part of
the solution and the time to act is NOW!
