In this issue

As we start off 2019 with the best of intentions to accomplish our New Year’s resolutions, we do not like being reminded that 80 per cent of these resolutions will fail. Instead of setting yourself up for failure with unattainable goals, rather review these goals. Remember that moderation is the key to success, and never discredit others to boost yourself. As one of our New Year’s resolutions, the GAME & HUNT team will continue to promote the synergy between game production, hunting and conservation through informative, quality articles, just like we have been doing each month since December 1993. January 2019 will be a busy time as our team will be travelling abroad, visiting all the relevant hunting conventions and shows in the USA – the Safari Club International (SCI) Convention, Dallas Safari Club (DSC) Convention, Shot Show (SS) and the Houston Safari Club (HSC) Convention. We will report on these shows in the early editions of this year. We are kicking off the year with hunting articles from all corners of the globe – from
Pongola in South Africa to Mozambique, and then as far as Alaska! Hunting editor Stefan
Fouché visited Pongola in the beautiful Zululand and hunted his nyala with Leeukop Safaris (p 10). Regular contributor Laurence Jennings and a few friends spent five amazing days hunting several unique animals in some of the most beautiful parts of Mozambique (p 24). Tracking a caribou in the Yukon, Alaska must be the ultimate hunt. This is exactly what Izak Kirsten did, but it also came with some challenges. Turn to our Big-Game Corner section (p 42) to also indulge in the lovely scenery of this part of America ...
