Dit is die vierde jaar dat ons ‘n spesiale uitgawe aan vroue wy. Dit verklaar natuurlik die pienk tema wat ’n tikkie sjiek vroulikheid aan talle bladsye verleen danksy ons kreatiewe uitlegkunstenaar Christine Bothma wat op die foto hieronder verskyn.
Die skone geslag is lankal nie meer net tuisteskeppers nie. Hulle is deesdae supervroue wat ’n voltydse beroep beoefen, tuisonderrig gee, sorg dat die huis skoon en die mae vol bly, dat Wagter gebad word en dat manlief en die kinders ekstra bederf word as hulle verjaar. Tyd vir ontspanning moet daar egter ook wees – vir sommige vroue is dit ’n pamperlangsessie by die spa, vir ander ’n jagdag in die bos op soek na daardie bok en die vrede en stilte wat slegs die natuur jou kan gee.
Some women, like Andrea Potgieter, love hunting so much that they make a career of it. A qualified PH, Andrea guided clients on a successful six-week hunt at Unzwa Safaris in Limpopo. Parents often instil a passion for hunting and nature in their children. LD Jennings is a perfect example. His young daughter, Lumari, always accompanies him when hunting or driving around in the bush. The day she shot her first buck was one of the proudest moments of his life.
Given their smaller build, women have different requirements to men regarding firearms. Nico Roets gives valuable advice to the ladies about correct calibre choice and other important aspects. In his regular column Bakgat, Christophe Roelofse reviews the CJR XR ELRS action as well as Benelli’s Lupo rifle that features on this month’s cover.
