Some believe this will usher in the new economy, and some think it’s much hogwash. I sit on the fence and honestly say I don’t get it. But no matter what your take on all this, it is the future, so best to try and understand it—sit with us on the fence.

On the cover is NY-based Filipino visionary and techpreneur Sheila Lirio Marcelo. She was in Manila for a couple of days to do talks and launch her company, Proof of Learn, alongside her co-founder Kevin Yang and Gabby Dizon of Yield Guild Games (YGG).

Proof of Learn encourages web developers to venture into the dynamic world of the metaverse through its first project, Metacrafters, a learn-to-earn platform where NFTs are earned, minted and traded by completing Web3 tutorials.

Having been at the helm of the online service platform Care.com for 14 years, Marcelo says, “I guess it’s not a surprise to be where I am now, following the evolution of the internet. I’ve always believed in it; I was one of the early believers.”
