Magazine Description

In this issue

This month we spotlight the family, the foundation of our lives and wellspring of strength and love., highlighting the handsome Trillo brood: Paolo, Rissa and daughters Audra and Celestia. The couple share valuable lessons on marriage and why leading by example is at the core of their parenting style. In our Scene section, we speak to six ladies who have migrated and ask them their reason for leaving, about their newfound life and love, and how they are raising their families abroad. Last December, we launched the much-awaited Tatler Dining Guide 2022 (previously called Best Restaurant’s Guide); this February, we are presenting the year’s well-deserved awardees. Take a look at the the new Univers in Greenbelt 3, which has some of my favourite brands such as Thom Browne and Assouline; Officine Universelle Buly Paris, a French beauty brand founded in 1803; and Off-White, an Italian luxury brand founded by the late Virgil Abloh. In our Features well, our managing editor Chit Lijauco gives us a historic background on how we got our family names; Ortigas Foundation Library executive director John Silva writes about the influence of Abraham Van Heyningen Hartendorp, an American scholar and teacher who came to the Philippines in 1917 as a high school teacher and started the first magazine here called the Philippine Magazine. We move on over to France and visit long-time friends Edouard and Sevrine Miailhe who used to live in the Philippines. They have taken over the family’s centuriesold vineyard, Château Siran in Bordeaux. We ask them about how it’s like running a wine business and their reaction to their Château Siran 2018 Margaux being named the best wine in the world. We also take a tour of the home of ultra-chic EIC of Lifestyle Inquirer online Ria Prieto and see how its eclecticism is just how she wants it.
