Dambulla Rock Cave Temple is acclaimed as the biggest and best preserved complex of Buddha images and rock paintings in South East Asia. The pineapple, a member of the plant family known as Bromeliaceae, is non-native to Sri Lanka, although now firmly embedded in the Island’s culture and cuisine. Beneath the thorny exterior of a pineapple hides a delicious golden feast of nutrients.

A delightful stroll along the newly beautified Viharamahadevi Park where new trails and walkways had been created, most of them paved with interlocking bricks and light posts. However, the traditional vendors with their push carts are still there selling everything from fresh mango slices to ice cream cones.

Flowers are but awe-inspiring creations, shaped, coloured and scented by nature to defy all odds for the continuity of its bearer. Sri Lanka would be an ideal getaway, to look in to this mysterious world.

The first impressions of Deraniyagala is of a small but busy town. However a closer look inland reveals a foray into trails and paths leading to many tea and rubber estates, an abundance of waterfalls, and the ancient suspension bridge, making it a worthwhile stay for your next visit.
