The month of September heralds the festive season for people across the country. 
The month also feels like the month of transition, seasonally and emotionally. That’s why we are also thrilled to have an actor – one who is never afraid of changing the game – on our cover. We have the lovely, extraordinarily talented Vidya Balan who lets us in on how she navigates her career.

It’s all about the blue this month! Our incredible hockey squad is competing at the World Cup that is being held in Spain and the Netherlands this month. They are currently ranked 6th in the FIH World Rankings, and are ranked as the best team in Asia! We also wanted to introduce you to the members of the team. Curiosity about them piqued post the Tokyo Olympics where their epic performance had us beaming with joy and pride. We wanted all of you to really get to know them through their stories. The lengths these fearless, talented, gutsy women have had to go to, to become national – and, we hope, world – champions, have been daunting. We honour them by amplifying their voices.

This June we absolutely cannot wait to watch Shabaash Mithu, a biographical sports drama with Taapsee Pannu essaying the role of Test and ODI captain of the Indian women’s national cricket team, Mithali Raj. Both of whom you can see on our cover this month. Both incredibly dynamic characters, they’re also admittedly very different people. How they found common ground and forged a bond is a tale told in our cover story – a conversation between the two women, and a fantastic read.

It’s February, which means all the mediums and feeds are going to be flooded with the Valentine’s Day juggernaut. Celebrate love, by all means. We LOVE love. But we also know – and this is the real truth – how much pressure it can put on people who are both single and in couples, for a variety of reasons. Cinema - That Grand Adventure that unites us in joy and pathos. By that definition, it’s the players – actors and actresses – who set the stage for our journeys, and have, since time immemorial. On our pages, we pay homage to these luminaries, active through the ’60s to the ’90s, and even today, for that matter. Why are we exploring this theme now? Quite simply, “entertainment” of any sort over the last two years has felt like a luxury.  Every single star on our pages means something to us. We’re quite certain they mean the same to you. And so, we take stock of the past, and the present, to move forward.

Our anniversary falling in the month of November proved to be a bit of a conundrum for us. Anniversaries are for celebrating. So is this time of year, given the spate of festivals around the country. But, for so many people across the nation, celebration and festivities aren’t on the cards. We’d like to honour them, but also honour… hope. Moving  forward for all of us, as a collective. What better way to do that than by invoking LIGHT? That’s the theme of this issue. May it light your path, soothe your pain, signal something new – we all need the healing, joyful, comforting power of light. Now, more than ever. 


Our four Paralympian champions on the cover are the very definition of light. The obstacles they’ve overcome to follow their paths are astounding. Yet, talking to each of them reveals happiness, determination, strength and focus. We applaud them, along with the rest of India. We also turned to the real professionals of storytelling to bring you a very special Big Story. No, not us (this time!). We approached our favourite poets and authors to pen down original stories, verses, and personal thoughts around the theme of light.

As erstwhile CEO of PepsiCo, and in all her roles, past and present, Indra has been an unstoppable force – inspiring, charismatic, brilliant, intuitive. That’s also because those qualities, and the resulting compound, are inherently… Indra. We grabbed the chance to speak to her when we found out she was authoring a book. Serendipitously, she agreed, to both the interview, and to our cover. The resulting conversation unfurls on our pages this issue, as they do in her book, and we urge you to read both.

We won’t give too much away, because we don’t want to take away the joy of reading for yourself.
