Timeline Goa turns One this month and we couldn’t be happier. Putting each issue together has been a labour of love, not to mention a few sleepless nights, crazy deadlines and all that goes into putting 100 pages of carefully, handpicked, curated content every month. At the outset, we aimed to offer our readers not ‘just another Goa magazine’ that would list out the much sought after parties, places to visit and the like. There’s the internet for that. But our journey has been one of discovery, of unearthing fresh writing talent and lesser known aspects of Goa and Goans from near and far to add more than a fair touch of the unusual in our contents. The Price of Freedom - In ‘Freedom’ by the French poet, Charles Peguy, God speaks of his concept of a free man. He compares our trials to a ‘father teaching his son how to swim’. Of allowing the child to take in just enough water that is crucial to learning as anything more would be harmful. If we apply this to our lives, the poet points out, He sends trials to be overcome, to be men…On the one hand, they must work out their salvation for themselves.
