We are celebrating the smashing of a world record! Our testers astride the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 not only set new national records but smashed the world record for the longest no hands wheelie. The February 2021 issue of Fast Bikes India is headlined by the Triumph Trident! The Trident is set to the British motorcycles maker’s most affordable motorcycle yet and is scheduled for an India launch in March. With a 660cc in-line triple mated to a new chassis with familiar components from Showa and Nissin, can the Trident become a new stepping stone for riders looking to progress to bigger machines? We ride it on highways, as well as twisty roads in the UK to find out. 
Closer to home, we have set the national record for the fastest wheelie over a quarter mile astride the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200, certified by the FMSCI and India Book of Records. This record was months in the making, with resident stunter Hrishi Mandke training both mentally and physically for the attempt. Indian rider C S Santosh had a bad crash that put him out of the rally, while his teammates Buhler and J-Rod put in top 15 performances. TVS Racing’s Harith Noah pulled of a spectacular 20th place finish — the highest for an Indian yet. We get talking with him, about his journey up the ranks in TVS Racing, prepping for the Dakar in a difficult 2020 and what it was like to make it to the finish line this year. Ashish Raorane participated in the Malle Moto class and had a rough ride himself, crashing out but then chasing to restart when he could and make it to the finish line. We even have a brilliant photo-story by Ishaan Bhataiya that tells the story of the Dakar through the lens of a photographer. All this and more inside!

We put the new Honda H’ness CB350 head-to-head against the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 to see if the Honda can crack the neo-retro formula. The Meteor 350 is brimming with character and it even won the comparison test against the Jawa and the Benelli Imperiale 400, meaning by no means will the Honda have it easy. We also get astride the KTM 250 Adventure and Aprilia’s sexy maxi-scooter, the SXR 160. Rookie wheelman Suvrat gets astride the Jawa Perak and also narrates his experiences from the TVS Young Media Racer Programme. 

Ultimate Sportsbike 2020: It’s the last issue of 2020 but  the pandemic hasn’t been so bad for the sports bike fraternity. We’ve seen the genius of Honda’s all-new Fireblade, Ducati’s baby Panigale V2 and Triumph’s final super sport hurrah in the form of the brilliant Daytona 765 Moto 2 joining the regulars. The veterans too received their own batch of updates starting with our favourite – the Aprilia RSV4 1100 factory with its gen-2 Ohlins, Ducati’s ferocious Panigale V4 with its own set of wings to keep it on the ground and several homologation specials. A couple of stalwarts remain unchanged but still deserve a place in this year’s ultimate showdown and that list includes the Suzuki GSX-R 1000R and Kawasaki ZX-10RR and of course the Yamaha R1M. Last year’s winner – the BMW S 1000 RR remains largely unchanged but why fix what ain’t broke, right?
The ensemble includes nine of the best superbikes that you can buy today and we have tested them on road – everything from a smooth road to bumpy farm tracks, motorways and high streets even, for comfort and usability. In the second part we take them to Cadwell Park circuit in the UK to test their agility, stability, feel, tech and brakes because these are the things that you’d talk about at the coffee shop. And we have also tested the bikes on the dyno and the scales. That’s not all, we have also data-logged everything collating 0-160kmph timings and 160-0 deceleration times to throw some science into the test. It’s the ultimate test of the ultimate bikes on road, track, dyno and scales. It’s the Ultimate Sportsbike Test 2020 and there can be only one winner.

Ducati Diavel 1260 S vs Indian FTR 1200 S
The outliers of the motorcycling world, the Diavel 1260 and FTR 1200 hate to be stereotyped. Well, both the Diavel and FTR are very different from each other yet eerily similar in nature. The Diavel 1260 is Ducati’s idea of a fast-paced cruiser that goes round corner like a Monster; is freakingly fast like a dragster in a straight-line yet liveable on a daily basis. The FTR 1200 on the other hand is a proper American muscle bike with its roots etched deep into flat-tracking but is more than meets the eye. Its essentially a street-tracker with a potent motor but that can also do a bit of off-roading. We have brought two of these iconic machines together in a comparison like lever before. Who wins? Hello and welcome, to the mother of all comparos as we pit the Apache RR 310 against its arch rival the KTM RC 390 and the entire entrenched competition. We have also managed to get our hands on Honda’s fantastic VTR 1000 SP1, the bike that blew the competition at WSBK way back then. For the more convenience-orientated lot, we got the Honda Grazia to lock horns with its 125cc scooter ilk.
