Organic farming adoption should be at full-throttle

A strong nation needs to have a healthy
population, with access to a diet rich
in nutrients and devoid of harmful
chemicals. This fact has been adopted by
most of the Western countries and has
found its way back to India as Organic
Agriculture. This back-to-nature mantra
is nothing new for the Indian way of life
or culture, given that our ancestors have
been already in tune with nature and
practicing agriculture keeping in mind
the welfare of all living beings and the
environment. Yet, switching back from
the practices of the Green Revolution
to the organic way seems to be easier
said than done. Presently, Sikkim is
the only state in India that has cent per
cent adopted the organic agricultural
practices. Other states too, need to bring
about a sea change in their outlook
towards organic and what it can do for
the farmers, consumers and the nation,
in the coming decades.
