The Cover Story of this edtion is about first of its kind occurence in the history in which a Tamil writer Perumal Murugan has announced that he has quit writing and also withdrawn all of his novels so far. Controversy started around Perumal Murugan's nove 'Madhorubagan' which was published in 2010 and later translated into English by Penguin as 'One Part Woman'. Caste and religious outifts whose identity are yet to be revealed started protesting the contents of the novel since it alleged portrayed women of Thiruchengode and the Kailasanthar Temple in that Western Tamilnadu town in a very bad light. The protesters did not relent even after the writer came forward to remove the objectionable contents in the next edition of the novel. After a meeting organised between both the parties by the District Revenue Officer of Namakkal district, both the parties signed a 'peace' treaty which included Perumal Murugan's unconditional apology and assurance that henceforth he will not write anything controversial. After this meeting Perumal Murugan announced that the 'Writer' in him is dead.

However its a big sigh of relief for Jaya's supporters as well as her party cadre since their beloved leader is back to her home land and she can also have a close access to monitor as well as guide her party's Government in which she can not take part until her conviction is stayed by a higher court. The cover story analyses the after effects of Tamilnadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha's convicition in the 18 year long disproportianate assets case against her. The cover story analyses the extent of loss to Jammu and Kashmir and its people due to the flood that hit the valley recently which was unprecedented in the last fifty years  Apart from the natural calamity, the alleged inactiveness by the Government intensified the losses and grievences of the people living in the state which has already lost many of its citizens to sectarian violence in the past decades. 
 
A special story analyses the rift between AIADMK the ruling party in Tamilnadu and BJP, the ruling party at the centre and a party that has slowly started holding its ground in the Tamil speaking state. With the TN Chief Minister and the leader of ADMK, Ms.J.Jayalalitha openly criticising the Modi Government at the centre in an by-election rally, for failing to fulfill Tamils aspirations and requirements, the rift seems to have intensified. 
 
The murder of couple Kannagi and Murugesan which lead to the coinage of the term honour killing which means killing the couple who violate the caste rules and marry a partner from a lower caste rocked the state in 2003. Since one of the victims Murugesan belonged to the SC community, the case was handled under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and a compensation of Rs.2,00,000 to the family of the deceased had been ordered by the Court. But it has been eleven years since the murder but still the TN Government is yet to pay the compensation. 1. The cover story deals with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's performance at the end of the first 100 days of his assuming office. Though the man at the top is steering forward with optimistic plans and pragmatic targets the performance seems to be not up to the mark as for as the first 100 days are concerned. 
 
2. Tamilnadu Cheif Minister J.Jayalalitha has been unanimously elected for the consecutive seventh time as the leader of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party which she represents rigth fromt the day she entered politics. Though this is seen as an humungous achievement that too by a female politiician in the history of post colonial India, the negative side of the story is whether the iron lady has failed to identify the second rung leader who will be able to lead the party structure in her absence. This question looms large with the verdict by a Bangalore court on the disproportianate assets case pending against her is expected to be pronounced on September 20. 3. The private Omni bus fares in operating in Tamilnadu have increased the ticket rates once again citing variosu reasons. The bus owners are also alleged to be exploit festival and holiday rush and charge tickets at rate that is two to three times more that the announced rates. Voice is being raised by conusmers, activists and even politicians for a Goernmental body to regulate Omni bus fares, like the case of Autos. A special story analyses this.

The Attorney General of India has opined that the Government appealing in the High Court against he Puduchery Vedict acquitting the Sankaracharyas of Kanchi Mutt, Jeyandra Saraswathi Swamigal and Vijeyandara Saraswathi Swamigal in the mysterious Sankararaman murder case. This is seen as a soft attitude of the newly formed BJP Government towards the Shankaracharyas. The story analyses the impact of the AG's opinion in the mysterious murder case.
 
4.) Te Kerala Chief Minister Ooman Chandy has announced that Liquor will be completely prohibited in the state in phased manner within the next ten years.
