Highlights of India Today Malayalam issue dated January 22nd, 2014. The issue had an exclusive cover story on the controversies involving V A Arun Kumar, son of former CM V S Achuthanandan, who has always been in the eye of a controversy. Countless allegations were raised against Arun Kumar over the last two decades. It ranges from allegations of accepting bribe from a sandalwood factory owner with the promise of diluting his father\'s fight against sandalwood mafia to demanding five percent commission from technocrat KPP Nambiar for launching Rs. 1500 crore Kannur power project. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has come on record that the SP who had investigated the case has submitted his report and it is looking into the scope of further enquiries. Meanwhile, Kerala High Court has ruled that action against him can be taken in some of the cases. Meanwhile, Arun Kumar, who is currently the additional director of Institute of Human Resources Department (IHRD) in an exclusive interview to India Today, states that he is the hapless victim of political plots against his father. The Big Story examined the impact of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the nooks and corners of India and how it is being a threat to the mainstream tactics of BJP and the Congress. In a survey conducted in 24 state capitals, 75% expressed their wish that their Chief Minister should be somebody like Kejriwal. It was also examined how Kejriwal\'s government in Delhi can ensure sustainable development in the state and how Rahul Gandhi missed his opportunity to be an \"ideal\" aam aadmi. An interview with Manoj Padmabhan, state convenor of AAP, was also part of the package. Manoj Padmanabhan has revealed that their main target in the state would be the Left in the state. Another important story was how politics and religion determines the appointment of Vice Chancellors in five universities of the state, in view of the controversies surrounding A V George, Vice Chancellor, M G University. A profile of Kerala state transport commissioner Rishiraj Singh, the road hero of Kerala, who has won the popular heart with his measures to curb road accidents in the state was also featured. A relook into the plight of people in Panmana, a village which was suffering from the pollution by the state-owned KMML was another big story. A sports story examined how the stunning performers of school meets could not retain their form in future and why are they failing to keep the promises. A review of the movie Drishyam by Jeethu Joseph was also featured.
