Highlights of India Today Malayalam issue dated January 15th, 2014. The year-ender issue features the power of the new generation, and how it is going to re-mould the present and the future. In politics, the prospects of Rahul Gandhi as the successor was examined and the transition of power in BJP, from Advani to Narendra Modi is also put under scanner. Another major transition of power is from Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan to Ramesh Chennithala, the later being the new home minister of Kerala. In business, the challenges and prospects of Cyrus Mistry, Anad Mahindra, Rohan Murthy and Anand Goyanka as the successors of their respective empires are examined. Meanwhile, in cricket, Cheteswar Pujara and Virat Kohli are highlighted as the inheritors of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar respectively. Manu Jose, the story-teller from Kerala who has found the art as a vehicle of social transformation, is featured among a group of social transformers, including Jasmine Shah Verma, Sanjana Kapur, Samira Iyengar and Swara Bhaskar. Deepika Padukone, Parineeti Chopra, Ranbeer Kapur and Ranveer Singh represented the changing face of Bollywood while Manju Warrier, Prithwiraj, Fahadh Fazil, Kunchakko Boban and Murali Gopi were their counterparts in Malayalam. The obituary section features Mannadey, Veliyam Bhargavan, Rituparno Ghosh, Dakshinamurthy, Uthradom Thirunal Marthandavarma, K Raghavan, Pran, Margaret Thatcher and Rosamma Punnoose, among others. Another important story is on the rising number of missing kids in Kerala. A special story on Nadakkavu Girls Vocational Higher Secondary School, the first smart school in the state, was also part of the package. A political analysis of the ascension of Ramesh Chennithala as the new home minister of Kerala replacing Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan and the possible effects it can have on Kerala politics was another important story. The issue also featured 35 best books among the ones that published in 2013.
