Highlights of India Today Malayalam issue dated July 3rd, 2013. The issue had a wide array of articles with the cover story featuring the largest controversy shaking the Kerala government in its recent past- the solar scandal which directly involved Chief Minister Oommen Chandy\'s close aides. The story features a detailed study of the case and the history of the major accused- Biju Radhakrishnan and Saritha and case studies of those who were cheated by them. The human rights violations faced by expatriate workers in Saudi Arabia was another big story, which was based on Slaves of Saudis, a book by Joy C Raphael, senior journalist. The story, apart from a lead essay and book excerpts, had case studies from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and an interview with Wayalar Ravi. Interview of the week featured Elias George, MD, Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL). Another important story was on elephant corridors being encroached by corporate spiritual and educational institutions, thereby creating threat to both elephants and human beings in Coimbatore. The single-handed efforts of Badr Sayeed, former additional advocate general of Tamil Nadu, to curb the rights of Khasis, Muslim Pundits in giving nod to talaqs. The big story which looks at the prospects of aspiring prime ministers including Jayalalithaa, Chandrababu Naidu, Nitish Kumar, Sarad Pawar and Mayavati was demonstrative. The dilemma of Nadrendra Modi on the fake encounter issue involving Israt Jahan and its consequences was another. A review of Femina Jabbar\'s novel Saya by Madonna M was also featured in the issue. Vidya Balan, Namitha, Lakshmi Menon, Amala Paul and Remya Nambeesan were the celebrity faces.
