கிழக்கில், காலையொளியின் முதல் கதிர்கள் எழுவதற்கு முன்பு, சிறுவன் ஒருவன் இருளில் எழுந்தான். “நான் இன்று மலையின் மேல் ஏறமாட்டேன்” என்று கெஞ்சினான். அவன் கண்களில் தூக்கம் தெரிந்தது.

அவனுக்கும் வேடிக்கையாக இருப்பது பிடித்திருந்தது. ஆனால் சில சமயங்களில் வேடிக்கையாக இருப்பது அவனுக்கு சிக்கலில் முடிந்தது...

மலாலா 1997இல், ஓர் விடியற்காலையில் பிறந்தாள். அவள் ஜியாவுதீன் யூசுப்சாய் மற்றும் டார் பெகாய் ஆகியோருக்கு முதல் குழந்தை ஆவாள். அவர்கள் பாக்கிஸ்தானில் உள்ள ஸ்வாட் பள்ளத்தாக்கில் பரவியுள்ள மிங்கோரா என்ற பெரிய நகரத்தில் வாழ்ந்தனர். அவர்களின் வீடு ஜியாவுதீன் நிறுவிய பெண்களுக்கான குஷால் பள்ளிக்கு எதிரே அமைந்திருந்தது. தன்னுடைய நாட்டில், சில புதிய அப்பாக்கள் இருப்பது போல, மலாலாவின் தந்தை தனது குழந்தை பெண்ணாக பிறந்ததில் வருத்தப்படவில்லை. ஜியாவுதீன் தனது பாஷ்டூன் மக்களை மிகவும் நேசிப்பவர், ஆனால் அவர் அவர்களின் சில மரபுகளை விரும்பாதவர். ஜியாவுதீன், தன் நண்பர்கள் மற்றும் குடும்பத்தினரிடம், ஒரு மகனைப் போலவே, அவள் தொட்டிலில் உலர் பழங்கள், மிட்டாய்கள் மற்றும் நாணயங்களை வீசுமாறு கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்.

"இப்போது நான் உங்களுக்கு ஒரு பெயரை கொடுக்க வேண்டும். எப்படி 'மிதக்கும் நாய்'  பெயர்?" நாய் வாலை அசைத்தது. அதற்கு அந்தப் பெயர் பிடித்திருந்தது."என் பெயர் சாமி" என்றான் சிறுவன். சிறுவனுக்கு நாய் சொந்தமல்ல மற்றும் நாயிற்கு சிறுவன் சொந்தமில்லை. ஆனால் அவர்கள் நண்பர்களாக இருந்தனர். அலையில் உலாவுங்கள் நண்பர்களே....!....

பின் குறிப்பு:
டிசம்பர் 1799 இல், ஜார்ஜ் தொண்டை புண் மற்றும் அதிக காய்ச்சலால் நோய்வாய்ப்பட்டார். அவர் சில நாட்களுக்குப் பிறகு டிசம்பர் 14 அன்று இறந்தார்.

மார்த்தா வாஷிங்டன் மே 22, 1802 அன்று மவுண்ட் வெர்னனில் இறந்தாள். அவள் ஜார்ஜுக்கு அருகில் அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டாள். மார்த்தா வாஷிங்டன் கனிவான, கருணையுள்ள மற்றும் வலிமையானவளாக நினைவுகூறப்படுகிறாள். அமெரிக்காவின் முதல் பெண்மணி தன்னைப் பின்தொடர்ந்த அனைத்து ஜனாதிபதிகளின் மனைவிகளுக்கும் ஒரு முன்மாதிரியாக இருந்தாள்.

உண்மையான ஜான் யார்?
அவர் நீண்ட காலம் வாழ்ந்து இறந்துவிட்டார். எல்லா உண்மைகளையும் நாம் அறிந்திருக்க மாட்டோம். ஆனால் சிலர் கூறுகின்றனர், நீங்கள் இன்னும் அவர் விதைத்த ஆப்பிள் மரங்களைக் காணலாம்.

ஜங்கோ உலகின் ஏழு உயரமான சிகரங்களை வென்று, மலைகளைப் பற்றிய சுற்றுச்சூழல் கல்வியை ஊக்குவிப்பதற்காக தனது வாழ்க்கையை அர்ப்பணித்தாள். பலரை தனது அடிச்சுவடுகளைப் பின்பற்ற ஊக்குவித்தாள்!

இசடோரா டங்கன்:  மே 24, 1877 முதல்  செப்டம்பர் 14, 1927 வரை வாழ்ந்தாள்.

அவள் தனது சொந்த நடன பள்ளியைத் திறந்தாள். பிற்கால நடனத்தின் படைப்பாளராக உலகம் முழுவதும் அங்கீகரிகப்பட்டாள்.

மேரி கியூரி: நவம்பர் 7, 1867 முதல் ஜூலை 4, 1934 வரை வாழ்ந்தார். அவரது கண்டுபிடிப்புகளுக்கு இரண்டு நோபல் பரிசுகள் பெற்ற முதல் பெண். பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் முதல் பெண் பேராசிரியர் அவளும் ஆவாள்.
