Leyland Lorries pre-1968 The origins of this famous maker can be traced back to 1884, when James Sumner, the son of a blacksmith from Leyland, Lancashire designed and
built a steam wagon. Jeff Colledge investigates, Mud and Tugs 2019 marks the 150th anniversary of Terberg, the
Dutch blacksmith-turned multi-axle, multi-wheeldrive
truck manufacturer. As a new book relates, although Terberg switched from producing its own extreme duty trucks to specialised Volvo conversions in 2013, another arm of the group is a world leader in terminal tugs and distribution depot tractors. Many of these are at work in the UK, where in 2016 refuse truck builder Dennis Eagle became part of the Terberg group...

Electric tilt cab KM The KM range was Bedford’s 1966 response to the new mid-Sixties Construction & Use
Regulation changes that introduced heavier axle loadings and longer overall lengths. Unlike the TM that followed, the KM lacked a tilt cab. Bedford’s omission has been rectifi ed by classic truck restorers Ken and Ray Walsh, who have produced a KM makeover re-engineered with an electric tilt mechanism, Time warp stunner With the un-timely passing of William Hunter at the age of 73 in November ’14, many vehicle restoration projects were left behind. However, he also left a highly dedicated team who are ensuring this work is gradually being finished. With the unveiling of their stunning 1960 Leyland Octopus Shell Mex and BP eight-wheel tanker, the Huntapac crew can at last admire one of the most testing projects they have ever undertaken...

Commer Q4 Part 1: On 1st April 2018, it had been 50 years since the Auxiliary Fire Service and the Mobile Fire Columns in the UK were disbanded, Mike and Julie Blenkinsop pass by the iconic Green Goddess Bedfords to look out an overlooked Rootes product further down the convoy, Poms Down Under Having a special interest in Seddon Atkinson history, having been their advertising agency’s Creative Director, Ed Burrows has gone the extra mile to get us this feature. The Corbitt Company – the early years While the name Corbitt may not be a familiar one among transport enthusiasts in the UK, the vehicles produced by The Corbitt Company from the late 1800s to 1954 have an enthusiastic following in America, 1992 VOLVO F12 K907 DHH “For the amount of use the lorry gets, I suppose it is actually quite diffi cult to justify keeping the vehicle on the farm, but it does come in rather

Jim goes round the world: When Jim Wilkinson signed up for his wartime military service, he didn’t anticipate that he would enjoy the experience of a lifetime when his unit was amongst the first Allied forces to land back into Hong Kong after peace was declared in 1945. Although he was worried he may have been contravening military regulations, Jim kept a meticulous written record of the 678-day trip.
