The June 2016 issue of Popular Patchwork has a holiday theme, with portable projects and sunny reads.

We have lots of quilts for you to make, including Rosemary Rosenfeld’s beach themed quilt, and Mandy Munroe’s hexagon throw. Both of these combine hand and machine sewing and so are perfect to stitching on the go. There are two fantastic interviews; Paula Welland is a quilter who traveled around Australia and New Zealand and made quilts along the way, and Leslie Morgan who describes herself as an embroiderer who quilts and teaches in the UK, Germany, and Italy.

Mandy Munroe’s Village Playmat is easy to make, and includes a small amount of foundation piecing which is ideal if you want to learn the technique, but not commit to using it to make a full-size quilt. Our marvellous March issue is packed with gorgeous projects and fantastic features. Our cover quilt
 is Mandy Munroe’s Blanket Stitch Quilt. Inspired by the classic embroidery stitch it uses subtle-coloured solid fabrics to create a graphic effect. March means the arrival of spring, and we have some fabulous seasonal projects. Lynne Goldsworthy has combined elements from Chain Quilts and Dresden Plates to create a fresh and pretty Springtime Blooms quilt, and if you are looking for a quick seasonal project then look no further than the mini block Spring Bunting project from Ruth Lazarus. If you love bags you will not want to miss the quilt-as-you-go shopper from Judith Hollies. Perfect for making a dent in your stash, this sturdy bag is a handy size for the shops and will carry your groceries home in style!

We have a musical flavour to the issue with a project to make record placemats and coasters, an interview with a designer who took an iconic album cover and turned it into a personalised quilt and Ricky Tims chats about how his early career in music has influenced his quilts. In our regular Let’s Visit column Debbie von Grabler-Crozier takes us on a tour of Norwich and in Get Creative Gillian Cooper looks at using flour to create a batik effect on fabric.
We also launch our new quilt competition. With over £2000 worth of prizes this is not to be missed!

Our fabulous February issue is all about love and thanks.  We have features about quilting for others, instructions on how to turn children’s pictures into applique motifs, and projects to make for your family and friends.

If your home décor needs a quick and easy update we have two stylish cushions to choose from; Marian Turner has created a bold and graphic Hounds-tooth design and Judith Hollies has used fresh yellows and linen in her Through the Windows project. As there is still a bit of a chill in the air we have plenty of warming quilts too, from the playful Flo’s Friends children’s quilt, to the masculine Suited and Booted throw, and the eye catching Silver Lining which is a great way to show off a feature fabric. Also this month we start our three part Seasonal Sampler project which combines patchwork and applique to create an eye catching quilt.
