Government has become ‘complacent’
over the risk of cyber attacks on the British
military. The Defence Select Committee,
chaired by James Arbuthnot, said that the
military’s ‘over-reliance on IT could leave
the country fatally compromised.’ Defence
Ministers were quick to point out that £650
million is due to be spent on cyber security
over the next four years as part of the
National Cyber Security Programme. This
follows news in December that the
Government is planning a ‘Cyber reserve’
defence force to protect the country’s
cyber infrastructure.
