The economy and the financial crisis, the need for special measures, aid and social benefits to provide security — these terms all accompany daily updates about the pandemic. Let’s take a step back and calmly consider if such words are anything new in relation to the cultural sector. For this reason, we have decided to dedicate this issue of Contemporary Lynx Magazine to the economy of the art world. In this issue, we ask artists about their financial situation, life insurance, and the contracts they sign with art galleries (or not). We also look at the vague aspect of the representation of female artists in the art world and analyse blockbuster exhibitions within museums, seen as sources of revenue, prestige and attendance figures. We also invite you to look into the exquisite art collections of Castello di Ama and Ettore Molinario. And for those of you who wish to establish or work at a gallery, we have prepared an interview with Massimo De Carlo, the founder of a mega gallery bearing his name.
