The “Sinhabahu” play staged here continuously since 1961 has won acclaim in Asia, Europe and Australia for its stylized rhythmic form of music, song and dance, depicting a story tracing the mythical beginnings of the Sri Lankan Sinhala people more than 3000 years ago. It brings the rich culture of Sri Lanka from past to present seen in the traditions and lives of the people to this day.
The Drama of Diving is a special joy here, especially in the coral shelf on the coast, diving from Dutch built precipices off Galle and many other daring places on the Southern coast which brings pleasure and also challenges to young and old, as they move to the daring dives into the depths of sea water. Mirissa, near Galle is another seaside delight with its palm tree heights, crystal clear waters of surfing pleasure and enrapture of Whale Watching at sea, too.
The Elephant is a symbol of Sri Lanka’s wild life spread through the jungles, and “Ath Athurui Sevana’ – Elephant Transit Home - in the Uda Walawe National Park, Amidst this combine of delights there is cycling too, A Sri Lankan holiday is a time of plentiful joy and memorable events in the drama of life and liberty.
