Welcome to the first of many cookbooks from Nic and Rocco.
Our aim while appearing on My Kitchen Rules was to prove
young men outside of the profession can cook, and cook well.
We wanted to show people of all ages that cooking doesn’t
have to be a chore - it can actually be great fun.
We were lucky enough to both be brought up in a family
where home cooking was a major part of our daily lives, and
thanks to our mothers we will always appreciate the values
that home-cooking instills. In our homes there was a lot of
praise for trying food. We were not required to like it, but we
were required to try it, and without even knowing it we slowly
became brave eaters.
From this childhood came our obsession with food today,
and learning to cook was simply a part of growing up. What
we love about cooking is that with every recipe you attempt,
your repertoire and courage slowly grows. One of the best
lessons we have learnt is that if you follow a good recipe,
you’re likely to have success, and this will give you the
confidence to then be creative.
This cookbook is a collection of our most popular dessert
recipes that really shows off what can be done with a few
basic ingredients, some seasonal produce, and a few kitchen
equipment necessities for any aspiring home baker.
We wanted to create a cookbook with clear instructions, lots
of photos, and plenty of useful tips. Hopefully with the aid of
our cookbooks, no matter what your level of cooking, we will
inspire you to try something new and most importantly help
you create something to share with your loved ones.
After all, cooking is an act of love, and a way to show you care.
We dedicate this cookbook to our mothers.
